Heart of England in Bloom Main Campaign
Heart of England in Bloom
Britain in Bloom is divided into 12 English regions and Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man and Jersey. Entries are usually made by District, Borough, Town or Parish Councils and vary from small villages to large cities. These entries are then judged against entries of similar status and by independent and appropriately qualified judges during the months of June, July and early August. In some cases regions also hold spring judging.
At a local level most communities begin by organising a range of events and activities involving their communities - many of our new Bloomers are beginning with the Neighbourhood Awards.
Once these activities have grown and developed, the local council authority might become involved, or a more formal committe structure might be created. At this point, you may consider putting forward an entry into one of the Regions in Bloom. Heart of England in Bloom is one of these Regions in Bloom, and covers the following areas: Birmingham & the Black Country; Coventry & Warwickshire; Staffordshire; Shropshire; Herefordshire; Gloucestershire; and, Worcestershire.
National Britain in Bloom
Selected winners of the regions in Bloom are then put through to the national competition, for the following year. The selected winners compete against winners of similar status and size from the 12 English regions, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man and Jersey. The national judges inspect the regional winners over a two-week period in August. Once the national judging is complete and the judges have made their assessments, all finalists are invited to attend the prestigious national awards presentation, which is usually held in September.
